When you’re growing up, people like to joke about not frowning too much, or your face will stay that way. As rediculous as it sounds, that’s not too far from the truth. According to Webster’s dictionary: ‘Wrinkle. Noun. A small furrow, ridge, or crease on a normally smooth surface, caused by crumpling, folding, or shrinking.’ The part that I have to stop and think about in that sentence is: ‘normally smooth surface’. That is because it is so true! Our skin was meant to be smooth.

Your skin was meant to renew itself every 2-3 weeks. That means shedding all the tired, dead skin cells, making new blood vessels, and forming more melanocytes cells to correctly redistribute skin coloration. This wonderful system assures that your skin is soft, refreshed and moist. Our skin is also a natural barrier that holds moisture in, defends us from the harmful UV rays, and keeps us young-looking. We also have a wonderful layer of fat below our skin to keep it looking full and healthy.

The problematic situation is what starts happening when this wonderful system of skin rejuvenation gets less and less effective with time, and we start to lose that needed, protective layer of fat. Our skin renewal system stops being so effective for a variety of reasons. Many of them have to do with our personal day-to-day decisions, most of which we don’t have any control over such as walking through a stress-filled mall or exposing ourselves to the sun when we walk to the car. Another example of our bodies’ ability or inability to withstand deterioration has to do with genetics. If you think about your heredity and notice that your family has the tendency to look younger longer, there’s a pretty good possibility that you will too.

There are several factors that you can have some control over, however. For example, a significant detriment to your skin is cigarette smoke, so try to stop smoking if you do. Another huge problem that most people wouldn’t imagine is stress. Scientists have proven that stress causes the facial muscles to tighten up and cause creases to appear between your eyes, on your cheeks, etc. One way to avoid this is by trying to be more conscious of your facial expressions and try not to take life too seriously. And of course, always wear sunscreen.

Wrinkles – Can I still turn this whole thing around?

What about if you’re reading this and thinking to yourself, uh oh, I already have wrinkles! Maybe it’s too late for me. What can I do? First of all, if you are just beginning to see a some wrinkles, and your concern is premature skin aging, try to follow the suggestions I told you about in the last paragraph, because you can probably stop your wrinkles from being as bad as they could be. Additionally, try an all natural anti-aging shield, which come in the form of a natural anti wrinkle cream that you can put on your face to help the skin in its job of retaining moisture, fatty tissue, and nutrients. A very beneficial ingredient to see if you can find in this anti wrinkle cream or anti aging wrinkle cream is snail serum, which has been proven to biologically regenerate skin cells and moisturize our skin, similarly to how it does for the snail. You can’t lose anything by following this advice, and I assure you that within a couple of months you will begin to see an incredible difference!
